Fair & Festivals

The fairs, festivals and cattle fairs in Rajasthan have a colorful and rich tradition of over six hundred years. They are unique in style full of vibrant colors, music and festivals. These fairs are held at various places in the state with the aim of bartering and selling cattle, horses, buffaloes, ponies, bullocks, camels, goats, sheep and donkeys. Traders from neighboring states like Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharastra also attend these fairs. The annuals turn-over of these fairs exceeds Rs. 40 Crores and is a major source of income for animals breeders. The most interesting and special feature of these annual fairs is that cows are not sold over here. Most of these fairs are organized in memory of famous warriors, folk Gods, Saints, social leaders, Gods and Goddesses.

Baneshwar Fair  , Baneshwar(Jan-Feb) This fair is dedicated to lord shiva. Thousand of peoples at the confluence of river Mahi & Som rivers to worship, make celebrations.

Gangaur Festival, Jaipur (Mar-Apr) It is the most important festival of the Rajasthan. Dedicated to GAURI ,a manifestation of goddess Parvati ,the consort of lord SHIVA and marital happiness. The festival Celebrated with pomp and gaiety  Bikaner, Nathdwara, jodhpur and  Jaiselmer. Kota, Hadoti, jhalawar, Sirohi, Mount abu.

Mewar Festival, Udaipur(Mar-Apr)   The festival welcomes spring, women dressed in beautiful attire join the Gangaur  processions to the Gangaur Ghat of lake Pichola..It offers a rare  that songs, dances, processions and fireworks.

Elephant Festival, jaipur(Mar-Apr)  A festival of Elephant polo match, elephant races and tugs of war between man and elephant. There is also prize of best elephant.

Urs Ajmer Sharif , Ajmer     This is a  largest fair of Muslim. It held in memory of KHWAJA MOINUDDIN CHISHTI (rah) at Ajmer. Pilgrims from all over the world assemble here to pay homage . Spell binding “QAWALLIES” are sung by famous QAWALL  in the world. And poetry dedicated to KHWAJA.

Summer Festival, Mount Abu (June)  The venue for the summer festival is hill resort of the state. The visitors enjoy a feast of music , dance and cultural programmers at hill resort.

Camel Festival, Bikaner  (Jan)   This medieval town comes to life's every year as the colorfully decorated sturdy Camels the ships of the desert, dazzles the landscape with their gracious presence.

Kanana Fair, Kanana ( Barmer District)  The Festival is held during the spring time or Basant. The folk tradition and dances are at display and the overnight show of Glair dances in their tradition attire leaves a lasting impression on the visitors
