history of Makrana begins more than 500 yearsago when Great Mughal Emperor
Shahjahan sent his chief of army
pahar Khan to
collect the big stone pieces of Marble for constructing The Taj
Mahal. The stones cutter people were called from "Makran (Iran)"
and they were called as "Silawat". Silawat does mean "The stones
cutter".
The
present town was named "Makrana" due to those "Silawats" who were
from "Makran". By the time Britishers founded first hand running
