                                          Makrana, a name which gives glimpses of humon imagination. The white marble of Makrana gave not only white milky Birla Temple of Delhi, Victoria Memorial of Kolkata and Delwara's Jain Temples, but also gave The great Taj Mahal. Makrana Is a world famous city . Makrana town is located in Nagaur district of Rajasthan state in India. Makrana is also known as Marble City & famous for the marble mined from the mines around it.

                                       The history of Makrana begins more than  500 yearsago  when Great Mughal Emperor Shahjahan sent his chief of army pahar Khan to collect the big stone pieces of Marble for constructing The Taj Mahal. The stones cutter  people were called from "Makran (Iran)" and they were called as "Silawat". Silawat does mean "The stones cutter".

The present town was named "Makrana" due to those "Silawats" who were from "Makran". By the time Britishers founded first hand running stone crasher in Makrana.  It is a heaven for geologists with the rich mineral reserves and an excellent place for selling your mining machinery. With nearly 600–800 mines present the place offers a huge market potential for these companies.

                                         The Albeto quality of marble is known as one of the best in the world.Known for its white marble reserves, Makrana is a small town in Nagaur district, with a deposit of 56 million tonnes and 40,000 labourers working in 400 mines in the several ranges of the Aravallis. Makrana, along with Rajsamand, are the main centres of marble in Rajasthan. Calcitic in nature, Makrana Marble is regarded as the oldest in age and finest in quality[1].

Population & Literacy     As of 2001 India census[2], Makrana had a population of 83,289. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Makrana has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 65%, and female literacy is 44%. In Makrana, 20%
of the population is under 6 years of age.
                                     Makrana is a significant town of Nagaur District in Rajasthan. It is situated on Jaipur-Jodhpur broad gage Railway route and around 120 KM from capital Jaipur. Environment of city is normal and the population figures are
